• Surf at Lowlands Beach

Summer is here and it's "HOLIDAY TIME".

Yes, it's a busy time of year but it's also time to relax, unwind and soak up the warm balmy atmosphere. Make true connections with an authentic local experience. Think:

  • enjoy an early evening BBQ as the last of the days sunny rays sink over the horizon.
  • head up the road to an afternoon live music session at Boston Brewery and enjoy a meal at the newly awarded Best Regional Casual Dining Venue in WA.
  • pick up a basket full of super fresh, local fruit, veggies, marron and herbs at the Good Food Shed on Sunday mornings just around the corner - great coffee, friendly locals and perhaps an impromptu ukelele performance too.
  • sample Australia's BEST Fish and Chip Restaurant at Hooked on Middleton Beach - WOW - as fresh as it gets.
  • wind up the day with a cocktail or two at WA's newly awarded Best Bar - Liberte in Albany.

So much to see and do in this unexploited, unexplored, unpretentious, unbelievably exhilerating and altogether AMAZING SOUTH COAST.

It's the way holidays used to be.

Don't miss the Field of Light - Avenue of Honour .

A Glowing Success So Far

It has been an incredible opening to the Field of Light Avenue of Honour in Albany. The art installation by UK artist, Bruce Munroe pays homage to the ANZAC spirit through a mesmerising lightscape.

The immersive art installation has received international recognition for the dazzling display, including media coverage in Lonely Planet, Australian Traveller, The New Zealand Herald, The Australian, and even making the front page of the Telegraph in the UK.
It’s Albany’s moment to shine with one of the biggest outdoor art installations WA’s South West has ever seen, making The Field of Light one of Australia’s ‘must sees’ for every traveller. The stunning installation will glow in Albany, from 4 October until Anzac Day on 25 April 2019, marking the site where 41,000 troops departed Australia for WWI highlighting Albany region’s unique sense of place and identity in the Anzac story.

The Field of Light: Avenue of Honour is a free public attraction.

No Place Like Home

In 2016/17 we toured 10 months around Australia in our caravan. We travelled 33,300 kms through every state and territory (yes, we even took the caravan over to Tasmania on the ferry). We saw a lot of wonderful things, experienced a lot of beautiful places, met a lot of sensational people, ate, drank and indulged in the fabulous local produce. We've climbed mountains, forded streams and found our dream. After 300 days on the road we decided that there is no better place than home! Lowlands Beach - we're here to stay!!! Love the quietness, stillness, calmness, fresh air, no traffic lights for 400kms, ahhhhh the serenity. We'd love you to come and experience it for yourself. Come share our paradise. So relaxing. A perfect way to celebrate Jeza's 32nd and my completing of my first teaching term. We had pizza for dinner, a spa for dessert and a nice bottle of red. A bitter-sweet stay. Loving every moment, yet the thought of real life lurking in the background. Yet, real-life feels miles away. That's the beauty of this place. Hope to return and stay more than one night next time. Thank you so much Gaynor and David for providing us with such a luxurious, relaxing and romantic stay. 20 out of 10!! It's that good.

Seldom are we idle and a visit to this part of the country was just what we needed. I think we are "tanked up" on the rest and relaxation - just in time for the chaotic months to come. Loved the delicious home cooked meals, the spa by candlelight and very comfortable bed, and waking up to birdsong. Highly recommend the property walks, star gazing and checking out the nearby beaches. And we especially appreciated Gaynor and David's gracious hospitality. Thanks for a lovely time. In 29 years of marriage, we agree it's one of our favourite times away as a couple.

A rare piece of paradise nestled amongst the trees. Your warmth and engaging manner is refreshing in a somewhat saturated market of mediocre hosts and establishments. If we ever get back this way again, we'll certainly stay here again.
  4. We haven't been to Albany for 30 years, Albany and the beaches were beautiful. The accommodation was in a good walking spot to the main centre, the accommodation was a bit small for 4 adults but it was lovely. May 2016
  5. Our stay at The Wardroom was wonderful. More than just a cottage hidden away in bushland with incredible views. Close to the ocean, tracks leading through wildflowers, an abundance of bird life and much more. Kind hosts who delivered a hot home cooked meal on a blustery night. Our July visit was short but left us wanting more of the peace and tranquility and the desire to return another time. Thank you Gaynor and David.
  6. Our stay at The Wardroom met all of our expectations and more. Set in bush land but we had incredible views. We had the front Veranda with wonderful breeze or the back veranda which was sheltered and cozy. This cottage had absolutely everything that anyone could possibly need for a great holiday. Wonderful location, close to the beach and the Bibbulmun Track. Absolutely loved our stay here, would be tempted to return to the Wardroom but would also love to try one of the other cottages too. Decisions, decisions. Thank you Gaynor and David for such an amazing place that lends itself so well, to being able to chill out, relax and come away feeling that you've had that break you needed.
  7. We had an absolutely terrific time staying at King’s Den! Not only was our accommodation luxurious, but the cottage’s ‘bush setting’ was simply breathtaking! You ask if we have ‘ any suggestions’ for you - absolutely not! - with wonderful accommodation, delicious meals delivered to our door and efficient, congenial hosts, we couldn’t recommend staying at one of the Cape Howe Cottages highly enough!
